Church School Distinctiveness
Confirmation
Wonderful to see so many of children from current and last year 6 being Confirmed in church by Bishop Phillip. The children have spent several weeks preparing for this important milestone in their life. It is lovely that Year 6 will now be able to receive holy communion when they attend church with school.
Christmas Service
Due to the weather, we were unable to go to church for our Christmas service, so Fr Eddie kindly came into school. It was absolutely beautiful to have a Eucharistic service in our school hall.
in Worship we reflected on those who have lost their lives in war and in particular a past pupil who has sadly been killed in Ukraine this week. Year 6 took our school wreath to the cenotaph and attended church with pupils from Hyndburn Academy for the two minutes silence, whilst other children and staff gathered in the playground. As always our children paid their respects beautifully and there was not a sound as they reflected and said their own private prayer.

Knife Angel Conference at Blackburn Cathedral

A group of year 5 children spent the day taking part in the Knife Angel conference which involved working with children from other schools in our Hyndburn Church Cluster.
The sculpture is made up of 100, 000 knives that have been used in knife crime and it gave us lots to think about as we looked at it.

Father Eddie Induction Service
We were proud to have two of our children carry the candles as part of Father Eddie's Induction at church. The boys managed this very important role very well within a very crowded church!

Community Cafe
Yet again, the children were an absolute credit as they helped out at the Community Cafe at church! They even have special note pads now to take people's orders! Well done children!
Rainforest Cafe
Our annual Rainforest Cafe event led by year 6 was a huge success yet again! Year 6 were a credit teaching visitors all about rainforest fruits, rainforest animals and all about the importance of Fairtrade in developing countries through the use of games, their work and presentations. It was great to see so many of our parents, governors and friends from church supporting our event. Thank you!
Working with our friends from church
Here are our year 6 pupils working alongside our friends from church on some new banners, which will mark different times in the church year and will be used in our Collective Worship.
Rishton Community Magazine
Our year 6 children have been working hard designing a front cover for the new Rishton Community magazine and are already writing articles and stories for it. Ella was thrilled for her cover to have been chosen as the official front cover!
Church Christmas tree festival
To add to the exciting build up to Christmas, each child made a bauble and groups of children went to church to decorate Christmas trees ready for the Church Christmas Tree festival.
Inter-Faith Day
Children and staff have spent part of their weekend taking part in an Inter-faith Day at Pleckgate High School. This was organised by Abu Hanifa Foundation with whom school are developing close links.
Children were proud to talk to visitors about their school and how Core Values and British Values are our foundation for everything that we do.
