Homework

In year 6, homework will be given out twice a week.

On a Monday, children will be introduced to their spelling focus for the week which is the high frequency words for Year 6.

Spellings will be sent home weekly on a Friday including 10 spellings to learn each week These will be tested on Friday each week.

Children's log ins for the following will be sent out at the beginning of the shool year:

Reading eggs, Purple Mash and Time Table Rockstar.

Please encourage your child to access these on a regular basis.

On a Tuesday, children will receive their Mathematics and English homework, to be returned the following Tuesday.

If, for any reason, children do not receive any homework, they should be encouraged to learn quick recall of their times tables, revise areas of the curriculum already taught or complete further reading.

Reading

In Year 6, we read frequently throughout the week, whether it is individually, shared reading or in a guided reading group. In Year 6, we know the importance of reading to help us improve in other areas of learning. So reading for at least 10 minutes every day would be very beneficial. Books can be changed every Monday and Friday so please ensure your child brings their books in on these days.

PE

Children will take part in PE on a Wednesdy and Thursday afternoon, however it is important that they have their full kit in school at all times.

Uniform

Please ensure all uniform and PE kit is labelled, as it is very easy to misplace it when moving around class and around school.
