Larry Our School Dog
Lancashire Life May 2022
We are extremely lucky at St Peter and St Paul's to have our very own school dog to welcome us in each day. He is an absolute delight and just loves everyone he meets. Children are taking responsibility for looking after him and nurturing him and are able to take him for a stroll around the school grounds at break and lunchtimes.
Larry has a number of roles in school; he greets the children each morning and spends some time in Breakfast Club. He is always there to comfort any children who are having a difficult start to their day. Throughout the day he gets a number of visitors either just to say hello and have a stroke or to show off some good work. Larry often works with children individually as part of their pastoral support programme and sometimes taking Larry for a walk and having time to play with him can help them chat more openly to the supporting adult. Larry always enjoys having books read to him and he just loves being with the children in school. He is one lucky dog to be loved by so many people and really is 'as happy as Larry!' (the reason his name was chosen).
