Larry our School Dog
We are extremely lucky at St Peter and St Paul's to have our very own school dog to welcome us in each day. He is an absolute delight and just loves everyone he meets. Children are taking responsibility for looking after him and nurturing him and enjoy taking him for a walk around the school grounds.
Larry has a number of roles in school; he greets the children and parents each morning and spends some time in Breakfast Club. He is always there to comfort any children who are having a difficult start to their day. Throughout the day he gets a number of visitors either just to say hello and have a stroke, or to show off some good work. Larry often works with children as part of their pastoral support programme and sometimes taking Larry for a walk and having time to play with him can help them chat more openly to the supporting adult. Larry always enjoys having books read to him and he just loves being with the children in school. He is one lucky dog to be loved by so many people and really is 'as happy as Larry!' (the reason his name was chosen).
