Mummification

In year 5, we have had lots of fun learning about the ancient Egyptians. To end our topic, we completed the process of mummification and then produced a piece of writing based on what we had done! I am sure that made for some interesting conversations over tea that evening!

Maths - Compound Perimeter

We have been learning all about compound perimeter this week so thought we would start in a practical way. We each built our own compound shapes using starbursts and used the blocks to help us calculate the distance around the side - of course Miss Bottomley let us have a little treat for all our hard work once the lesson was over!

Place Value - Maths

We have been focusing on place value in maths and this week we introduced decimals as fractions. The children have been working hard on exploring the different ways to display the decimals alongside their talking partners. In the images below, you can see the children completing one of their favourite activities - the maths museum where they get to work on the tables with their partner. This encourages discussion but also deepening understanding. Most importantly, a lot of fun is had by all whilst learning.

September 2021 - Worship

Last week, year 5 complete their first whole-school worship of the year. It was lovely to see everyone gathered together again for worship and being able to interact with other classes whilst spreading the messages of God and Jesus. Year 5 did very well!
