Year 2 Autumn 2026
Welcome to our lovely display of photographs from our Autumn term.
The first half-term will focus around our unit of 'Our United Kingdom', where the children will learn about the four countries of the UK, the capital cities of each country and consider the human and physical geography features of each country. In English, we learn about a strong willed wolfling called Wilf in our book 'The Way Home for Wilf' by Rachel Bright, where we write for many different purposes and consider different points of view.
In maths, we consolidate our knowledge of number place value up to 100 and practise writing numbers in words. We will use many resources to support our learning and develop greater independence in accessing these things: like 100 squares, number lines and tens and ones physical resources.
As developing scientists, we will consider living things and their habitats and learn about micro-habitats in our surrounding area. As musicians, we will look at rhythm and pulse through chanting call-and-response sound patterns and performing with a range of percussion instruments.
Our PSHE learning will consider our relationships with others around us and also in establishing our clear rules and expectations in school and class. For RE, we will consider why sacred texts are so important to people of faith. For PE, we will cover Fundamental movement skills and Yoga and become confident 'route explorers' with the Internet and with coding in our computing learning.
