Summer term, week 7: week beginning 24.5.21
Well, what a busy half term we have had and it has ended with our rainforest themed afternoon. Over the week, we have worked together to create games that could be used for Lancashire Schools' Sport Day events and completed our own stories; inspired by the Nowhere Emporium. We have worked to create rainforest inspired games using quizzes and word-searches and then enjoyed sharing these with each other. To end our week, we enjoyed rainforest fruits and tropical drinks. Some of us were brave enough to try new foods, such as figs and avocado! It ends a great half term and we look forward to a lovely half-term break, which will revitalise us for our final half term in Year 6.
Summer Term 1: Week 5
In Year 6, we have been working well within our learning and have enjoyed the Glockenspiels this afternoon, in our music lesson. In Geography, we are looking at rainforests and used the I-pads to research animals that live within the different layers of the rainforest. Last week, we researched the different plants and we will be creating power-point presentations about our findings. In art, we created a collage using natural resources to recreate the rainforests layers and worked in teams to arrange our transient art.
We have completed our unit on spreadsheets in ICT and the children have worked well to use different formulae within each of the lessons. Our current focus in maths is angles and the children have become more precise in measuring different angles and then working out missing angles from the information they are given.
In English, we are looking at The Nowhere Emporium by Ross Mackenzie and the children have been working hard to understand the different emotions and experiences of the different characters. Using their own questions, we used 'Hot-seating' to answer in role as each of the different characters and some of the responses were great. There's lots more for us to look forward to and I'm sure the rest of the half-term will be packed with fun learning!
