Summer Term 2 Week 5: week commencing 5th July
As we approach the end of our school journey, we have had a particularly busy week this week!
Over two days, we have completed stages 1-3 of Bike-abilty, with different children taking part in each level and some will get to complete their Stage 3 next week. The instructors have commented on the maturity and skill of the children and there has been very positive feedback-well done!
In maths, we have looked at conversions of time from analogue to 24 hour digital and in English, we have looked at poetry examples from WW2. As a class, we have complied a poem and today, the children worked in a group to perform a verse from the poem. This video can be seen below.
In PSHE, we have looked at the aspects of our growing independence and the different responsibilities we have. Importantly, this linked well for cycle maintenance for upcoming high school journeys for some on their bikes, electricity safety and especially for water safety in the warmer weather.
It has been exciting to be out of school uniform and enjoying time outdoors, whenever possible and we have done a range of activities based around this. We have completed our unit on 'quizzing' in ICT and have created some grammar based quizzes in our lesson today.
We know that there will be lots of fun activities over the next week: including making our fairground inspired marble run, but please enjoy the selection of photos below so that you can see some of what we have busy with.
War Poem-The Soldier's Memorial
We have had a busy start to our final half -term and have particularly enjoyed our Sport's Day. Having had such amazing weather, we've been enjoying time on the school field to play football during our break times. In our maths learning, we have looked at a bakery based theme, which required finding the best value products, calculating costs and looking at ratio and proportion for baking different amounts of cupcakes. This week, we have moved on to look at a spirals project to deal with angles and measurements and it has been tricky at times. In English, we are looking at The Diary of Anne Frank have been doing a variety of writing tasks linked to this. This links well to our them of WW2, where, this week, we looked at the similarities between Hitler and Churchill. Our PSHE learning has looked at the positives and negatives of social media and we will develop this further in our next session. Within Science, we are looking at the circulatory system. We linked it to art and created our own pastel work on red and white blood cells.
