This half term begins with performance poetry using a range of different poems and raps. The children will use actions, a clear voice and some instruments to help them in their performance techniques. In maths, we will continue looking at fractions and then work using decimals. Our science work continues looking at states of matter, where we will consider the water cycle in further detail and look at freezing, melting and heating as different processes. Our topic work will focus on the geography of the Northwest and make comparisons of Rishton against Manchester and Liverpool. Linking further with the Northwest of England, we will look at the Bolton based firm of Warburtons and test a range of their products. This will then help us to design our own bread to bake within our Design and Technology unit of work- The Great Bread Bake off!

Week 3 learning
This week has been a busy week with continuing work on fractions, where we have been adding and subtracting fractions and findings fractions of amounts. In English, we have written our own poems and then ended the week reading them to our peers. During our unit on performance poetry, we have looked at how to improve our presentation to others using a clear voice, increased confidence and some actions, if needed. In our DT learning, we have considered a design criteria of our own bread product that we will make. We have used Logo in computing to create shapes and letters and have used single and multi line commands. Additional, we have looked at repeat function and other commmands to create different shapes on the grid.
