Class Gallery 2020-21
We all know about the Great Fire of London - the fire that started on Pudding Lane -
but should the baker have been punished?
Year 2 decided a debate would settle the question.
Ask us about our arguments. We were full of them!
Sports Day 2021
Today, we completed a covid-safe sports day!
We were very sad that our parents couldn't cheer us on, so we have created a video so you can see what we did!
We had lots of fun!
We were very lucky children today!
We all got an ice-cream or an ice-lolly to eat in the sunshine.
It was very kind of the Governors, School and Larry to treat us for all of our hard work.
We all said a huge "thankyou!"
Today, Year 2 went for a walk to Cutwood Park. We used all of our road safety knowledge to cross the roads safely, identified geographical features, looked at a squirrels habitat and even had time to play on the park!
We loved being out and about again!
Recently, we have been learning to sew. We have looked at purse designs and practised our running stitch, before applying our new skills to our own purses.
We have really enjoyed trying to make it neat, even though the buttons were really tricky!
Today we have celebrated NSPCC's Number Day to help raise money for vulnerable children. We have used our questioning skills to figure out who was the tallest, our addition and subtraction knowledge to work out who changed the signs at the aquarium and worked as teams to play board games that used our fraction knowledge. We had so much fun!
Year 2 have been learning about maps and how to use a compass. Our friend Katie Morag, from the Isle of Struay, sent us a letter and some items to find. We had a great time pointing our maps North and finding the items.
Today we played cricket with All Stars Cricket! We practised our over arm throws and our aim. It was very fun!
This week, as part of our commemoration of Prince Philip, we have drawn portraits. We worked really hard to sketch and make our portraits look just like him! We hope you agree!
This year it has been so different for our Christmas celebrations. Even though we are in our bubble, we have still managed to have lots of fun.
We have made our Christmas cards and calendars, completed lots of Christmas activities and made tree decorations.
We had a fab time on Wednesday at our Christmas party where we made party hats, played lots of games, had lots of treats and got to see Father Christmas .(at a safe distance) who brought us all a present.
Here are some pictures of our day.
Vegetable Soup - As part of our topic work in Science, we have been looking at what we need to do to stay healthy and what a healthy meal should include. As part of our DT we have decided to make a healthy vegetable soup.
First we decided what vegetables we wanted to put in.
Then we had a vote to decide if we wanted a chunky soup or a smooth soup. ( smooth soup won)
Next we cleaned all our desks and washed our hands before peeling and chopping up all the vegetables.
Finally Mrs Tann kindly cooked the vegetables for us and whisked it into a sooth soup when it was ready.
It looked and smelt really good. mmm
Outdoor learning - In class we have been working on quarter to and quarter past .Today we have been outside to make our own human clock on the ground. We had to get all the numbers into the correct place, we then made the hands read different times. We followed this by making the biggest clock we could and adding the hands to read different times.
Can you guess what time each clock says?
This term we have been looking at how plastic waste is affecting our climate and how we can reduce plastic waste. We have also looked at how animals are becoming endangered because of the things humans are doing to their environments.
For DT we designed a wild animal using only a plastic bottle and newspaper.
Here are our finished products.
What do you think?
Can you name the animal?
